Getting Sentimental

It’s really not about the ribbons and the bows…
It’s not even important if it rains or if it snows!

But doesn’t it feel so warm and so right
When we can snuggle by the tree on a cold winter’s night?

Could it be that this is the year
When we really find things dear?

You know- instead of a shopper being shoved,
What would it mean to be a child of God, so loved?

You’ve heard it said that Jesus is the reason,
You know- tis’ the season!

But it really is…
You and I can be His!

Now if that doesn’t warm your socks and your cap,
Don’t rush so quickly back to Santa’s lap.

Have faith, even a sentimental ear,
For this may just be the Christmas that God comes near.
